Broke Key In Ignition 500sl
Broke Key Of In 90 500sl. Understand That You Have To Drill Out Ignition. Anybody Know How To Do It? Thanks!

Can you rotate the switch with the piece in lock? If so, you can probably remove the tumbler and push out the busted key from the back.

Uh oh.
I've lived through this nighmare. If you broke the key, the ignition tumbler was obviously stuck, and may stay that way. Diamond drilling is the only way out, unless you can get the tumbler to turn. If so, remove it, and run to the dealer as fast as you can for a replacement. Otherwise, you will need to tow the car to the shop and let them drill it. Plan on spending about $500-$700. FYI: when my ingiton lock stuck, the MB tech's exact words were, "the '89's are starting to go." That was two years ago, so your '90 must be within the current failure zone.

There are broken key extractors for jsut such an occasion. Drop by your local locksmith.

Can Not Get Key To Turn. I Wonder What Caused It? Faulty Ignition? Gear Shift Lock? Over The Past 6 Weeks The Key Was A Problem To Get Out. I Had To Jiggle Out. When Ignition Is Drilled Out Do You Just Get New Key And Ignition?
