Switch to Synthetic with Trans Rebuild?
My mechanic is rebuilding the transmission on my '88 300E. He said if I want synthetic ATF this is the time to switch. What is the consensus? If I use synthetic, is Mobil 1 the one?

I like Mobil products I would use Mobil 1. Do a search their are some good threads about this.

Most of the people I have spoken with say to stick with regular Dexron III and just make sure to do the fluid changes at the recommend intervals. Others seem to favor the synthetic fluids of MObil 1 and Amsoil. I'm trying to decide whether to switch or not. Please keep us updated with what you decide.
Can you tell me a little more about your transmission rebuild. How much mileage is on your transmission? Did any of the parts break, like a band? Any details you can share as I am in a new transmission as well for 1989 300ce.
