what does the standard warranty not cover

I recently bought a used 2002 c 240 which has 46000 miles. I have just taken it to dealer to get some items checked (ie. purge valve noise, oil leak, cd player noise etc). I mentioned that car pulls to right and he suggested front end algnmt (200.00),and said its not covered under mfg warranty. Does anyone know what else is not covered. Thanks moman

I hope you bought it Certified Pre-Owned, else you won't have much warranty to worry about soon!

Wear and tear items/Maintenence, such as alignment, are not covered. If you just bought it, the dealer does have leeway to eat a good-will repair.

They SHOULD address this. Ask to speak to the service manager. Be very polite but be direct. Also let him know this is your first MB (is it?) and you would like a reason to buy many more.

All this ASSUMES you bought it from the MB dealer. If not, you are on your own for this minor issue, and after 50k, every big headache which you will certainly experience from time to time.

$200 is too much

Don't know where you live, but $200 seems about $80 too high for an alignment. Whatever you do, make certain it is a 4-wheel alignment.

Assuming you have a warranty and copy thereof, your best bet is to read it. Warranties vary, and the current used car warranty is probably different than the current new car warranty.

On most new cars, all parts are covered except the tires, maybe the battery, especially if it is a purchased commercial item and not made by the car manufacturer, and usually "wear parts" like brake pads and clutch, or maintenance parts/fluids that should be replaced at periodic time or mileage intervals. Then there is the matter of "adjustments".

For example, the adjustment period for the new car warranty on my '88 was one year. Alignment is considered an "adjustment" since normal use/abuse can knock it out, so it's not covered by the full four years that covers the non-maintenance/non-wear parts.
