I wanted to know where the fuel pump relay is located on my car. Anyone know? My car's an 86 300E.
I think this may be wrong in my car. Anyone know what the side effects are when these relays go bad? I have no fuel going into my engine, especially when I press on the gas. Only air goes in through the air flap and to the engine. The car is not responding when I press on the gas pedal. Absolutely no fuel is entering the engine. It barely even starts. Things I have changed out on the car are: -Fuel Distributor (Rebuilt) -Distributor Cap & Rotor -Fuel Regulator -Spark Plugs The car has enough pressure going through the engine (I put my hand behind the car[muffler] when the car decided to start and run for 10 seconds). So I know for a fact it has nothing to do with the catalytic converter. What could this be? PEACE! dj cee

Your fuel pump relay is by the firewall- labeled 'kickd.'
Do you hear the fuel pumps buzz when you are key on engine off? You should- they are located under the left rear fender. Does the system recognize electronic control? If not it will very hard to start, requiring repeated attempts. "Absolutely no fuel is entering the engine. It barely even starts." Well, it wouldn't start at all if there was absolutely no fuel.

with key on engine off, you can clearly hear the fuel pump pumping fuel into the fuel distributor, or where ever the fuel enters first.
Does the system recognize electronic control? If not it will very hard to start, requiring repeated attempts. I do not have an idea of what this might mean. I'm guessing the answer is yes since with KOEO the car's fuel pump works, and all other electronics can work. I have no idea whatsoever about the problem with my car. When I was trying to start it at first, it wouldn't start. I replaced the fuel dist., and slighty turned the little allen screw that's located on top of the injection body (the small post right aside where the fuel distributor sits), which a MB specialist told me about, and the car sounded like it wanted to start, but did not. After about 25 tries, the car turned on, but only for about 30 seconds. When I pressed on the gas, the air flap lowers, and the engine sucks in air, but with no acceleration. On the contrary, the car begins to want to die after I let go of the gas pedal. This is weird. I have never even seen this happen on american cars. PEACE! dj cee

OK, you have dug yourself into a hole by making adjustments and changing parts without any real diagnostic work.
By turning the screw in the mixture adjustment tower, you either leaned or enriched you mixture. The car will not start if you are outside of the systems parameters. In the future, take notes (written) of any adjustments or changes you make. You are in a situation with a few possible outcomes: 1. You can bite the bullet and pay a professional to fix it. This may be costly, and your tinkering will not make his or her life any easier. If you can afford it, you should go this route, especially if you need the car any time soon. 2. Or you can read everything written on this board about the KE-III system and figure things out yourself. You need to abondon your current approach, known as "shotgun repair"- that is, throwing parts at the thing in hopes something will be the cure. Start researching posts on mixture adjustment, fuel pressure, electronic control, airflow meters, EHAs etc. Everything in the system must work in harmony for your car to run properly. There are some real experts on this board. Read through everything they have written about this system. To get started: Go buy the sears multimeter if you don't have one. Should be $30.00 or so. Your car has the KE-III system. Also known as CIS-E. Read relative posts by stevebfl, duke2.6, brewtoo, and others who know what they are talking about. Please stop making adjustments if you don't know exactly what you are adjusting! Good luck.
