Did the plugs and wires yesterday
Put new plugs and wires in the TE yesterday and seemed to make a heck of a difference. Was stumbling on acceleration at times and even backfired once or twice. The old plugs were gapped at about 75 thousanths, so I doubt if they had ever been changed. Car has 103K on it now and 87 on it when I bought it. The job was fairly simple and could not see any deterioration of the wiring harness yet. Another successful repair.

Congratulations!
I did my plugs and wires this past summer but saw no noticeable improvement... Then I changer the Rotor and Cap last night... that did it, it started up instantly (needed to crank for almost 2 seconds before) and almost silently after sitting for a month waiting for a fan clutch bearing bracket to go in.

What tools will I need? You'll need an allen wrench to get the top cover off, a phillips screwdriver, a 10mm socket, a 5/8 deep spark plug socket, a long extension for the socket, a long set of needle nose pliers to grab the socket when it won't come off the plug and a set of channel locks helps, for getting the plug wires off the plugs. I didn't care about hurting the wires since I was replacing them. Just put the wires on the way they came off. After driving it for another day, this definately made a BIG difference.
