Subframe components

What exactly constitutes the subframe components for the 83 300D Turbo?
Do you systematically replace them because of the age of the car?

The subframe is attached to the body of the car by means of subframe rubber mounts, usually 4 of them. In time the rubber gets fatigued, cracked and so on that usually results in a sloppy front end with harsh bumps and bangs. The rear end also have subframes too!

Actually only 2 on the W123. The rears.
The W107 models have front subframe mounts.

djohnson64, to make sure were using the correct terms. Look at this link to learn the W123 rear suspension components.

Here are the front components.

PS you posted the same thing on the diesel discussion. Usually just one post of a topic is necessary. The diesel area is probably best for this specific a question. Or you can put it in the tech discussion. Its nice to have a question in just one area, Unless you just can't get an answer.
As you sign in to the forum you can hit the link at the top "new posts". Those are the posts since your last visit. A few of the members look at just a particular area. But from what I see I think the majority hit the "new post" link so you see everything.

Thanks, Dave, for the detailed reply.
I had posted the same question some 2, 3 weeks ago on another forum w/o any response. And I wasn't sure if I would get any reply this time around; hence, the 2 posts. Sorry to take up the bandwith.
