Started smelling rotten eggs.

The Cat. Converter has no rust spots and seems to be in good condition [from the outside]. I just took the car for it's yearly state inspection, and they said the emission from the exaust was nominal.Should i just leave well enough alone,or could this turn into a larger problem later.Since this smell seems to be the demize of a Cat.

Try switching to a different brand of gasoline.
Btw., a smelly cat does NOT necessarily mean it's going bad !

check your battery for this smell, if it is coming from the battery it's either a cracked battery causing leakage of the acid or a faulty alternator/regulator overcharging the battery and "cooking' the acid into vapor and causing this problem, as you probably know the acid is very coorosive and damaging so check this out asap

Rotten egg smell is emitted from the sulphur byproducts used in your catalyst.

It may still be fine, unless you are experiencing performance issues...in which case, it might be clogged.

Battery sulphur vapors don't smell like rotten eggs...smells like acid, and your eyes and nasal passages burn! First hand testimony to this when my voltage reg. gave out and over charged the battery, causing it to boil and vent!

I concur!
Performance issues I believe are reduced horsepower/torque output, especially at higher RPMs.
