Crazy CLK alarm -- help please?

My 1999 CLK is possessed. Or so it seems.

Many times, when I leave the car and lock it, thus "arming" the alarm system, here is what happens:

1. The lights blink three times and then turn off, as they should.
2. Then, the lower front lights and tail lights start blinking again, eventually setting off the alarm.

I will then unlock the car, open the door, close it, and start the whole process over, and the same result. So...I now cannot lock my car without the alarm going off a few minutes later.

Does anyone have an idea of what kind of problem I might have?

Did you solve the problem?
I think I have the same issue w/ my 1999 CLK.
When I lock the doors with the remote the lights blink 3 times. After a while the lower front lights and tail lights start blinking for about 2 minutes and then they stop. Again the lights start blinking after about 10 to 15 min.
The thing is the above problem does not happen all the time.
During the whole time, the alarm never make any sound.

Exclamation

The alarm system is controlled thru the PSE pump (central locking). THAT system like most on that car is really a computer.

Scanners with MB software can "talk" to that system. START there!

Thanks for info. I guess I have to go to the dealer for this. I wonder how much they charge for diagnosis.

Do you also hear the alarm or only lights would blink?
Because in my case the alarm does not make any sound and only the lights blink for two and half minutes.
