Hard to crank

Several days ago I got in my car and it really struggled to crank. This occurred on two occasions. It definitely was not the battery---there was juice getting to the engine, but it would not turn over.

I was out of town so I limited my driving and prayed that I could get back home. I got back home just fine and it has not occurred again.

Any suggestions? Could it have been some air in the line or bad gas?

If there is enough 'juice' slow cranking would mean a bad starter. Otherwise, a low battery will cause slow cranking.

Air in the line, or bad gas, could make in hard to start, as in no fire, but it could not slow the cranking speed.

So, is the problem slow, laborious cranking, or a long perioud of cranking over and over without lighting the fire?

Best Regards,
Jim

I guess I would describe it as a long period of cranking over and over without lighting the fire.

Since it hasn't occurred again I am assuming that it is air in the line or bad gas.

Sorry I know very little about MB gassers, but is there a fuel 'accumulator' on this model? I seem to have read that an accumulator can make for a longer starting period when it no longer performs the accumulator function.

Good luck.

Best Regards,
Jim
