what am i doing wrong??? [124 rear seat removal]

ok... so through my searches, i've found that to remove the rear seat in my 87 300E i pull at the two red tabs...

the other day, i moved the front seats forward, positioned myself in the back and pulled incredibly hard on the two damned tabs... nothing budged. what am i doing wrong? any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

I think you have to push on them. Push towards the cushion and lift up at the same time. Do it for both sides, releasing the front end, and pull the rear out.

Ya - it isnt' so much puling on the tabs as releasing the tabs and pulling up on the seat. It shouldn't take a lot of force.

yaaay!

ok...now i get it. i just went outside and after a few tries got it to work. thanks so much you guys.

so now that i've got the seat removed is this flat metal box the stock amplifier? i'm assuming it is since it seems to have a couple audio cables and a coaxial cable going into it... but what's with the flat black cable that looks like a cat 5 networking cable?

ohhh, ok, thanks Rahulio. that makes sense... this car used to have a phone in it. do i still need to carry it around though? seems rather unnecessary.

so where's the stock amp if there is one?

No, the 1987 300E does not have external amplifiers for the stereo. The speakers are powered directly from the radio!
