What size is oil drain plug on 3.8 V8
I want to do an oil change on "new" to me 380SL. I looked underneath at the pan, expecting to see a regular 13mm drainplug. However there is a very large drainplug that requires a hex head/bit. What size is this, because I don't have anything larger than 10mm.
Thanks

I don't think it's the factory plug then.. every benz I've ever worked on (including gassers) had a 13mm regular drain plug.

I believe it is 17mm allen type.

17mm sounds about right from what I could see. My diesels, '83 and '87, have 13mm drainplugs that you use a socket on.
Now, only to find a 17mm allen (hex) head.
