a push putton to start?

Sure you can do it--just have to redo the wiring the original switch energizes. You could even fix is to the OEM switch was needed to turn things 'on' and the separate push putton to engage the starter.

You do either have to use the OEM switch to unlock the steering, or else remove completely the locking mechanism.
