Power seat

1999 CLK430

Last week the "Easy entry" option quit working...that is when you lift the lever on the seat to fold it forward to get in the back seat...it used to move the seat forward.. that quit working. Then this week the seat will not move forward when using the seat adjustment on the door panel. But the seat will move forward using the memory buttons. All other functions for the seat work except for the seat moving forward (either by the "easy entry" or by the seat adjustment button). Any ideas??

seat

sounds to me like possibly a defective seat switch. you will need to remove the door panel to remove the switch to avoid any damage to the switch wood trim,

The seat switch can be reprogrammed. I've done it once but it was a while back and at this time I don't remember the procedure.

Well I'm wondering if it is two different problems or if because of the "easy entry" not working that the seat adjusting switch on the door panel won't work either. Is there any easy way to test this or should I pull the seat out and try putting 12vdc to different connections?

Try normalizing the fore/aft motor. Simply run the seat as far back as it will go and hold the switch for an extra couple of seconds. Then do the same thing in the forward direction. Good luck

i wouldn't do that, there is a very expensive module under the seat that could be ruined, send me your vin number, i think i may have a good used module that will fit your car, that too may be your problem.

easy entry

If i understand correctly when you pull the handle on the top of the LF seat backrest the seat does not move forward. The resync by going fore/aft all the way is a good idea. Also, that handle pulls two release levers in the bottom of the seat back these levers trigger the easy entry feature. The cable is adjustable two T-20 screws at the very bottom of the seatback (where a rear passengers feet would be) are all that needs to be undone to remove the panel and access the cable that needs adjustment. It is wrapped in black tubing.
