Fan blades
I am trying to repalce the fan clutch. I took it out but I have trouble removing one of the the 3 allen screws that holds the blades on the clutch. The screw is stuck and the inside of the allen bolt is rounded. I used anythink posible like WD40, brake fluid, trany fluid but I can't get it open. I do not want to spend $40 on a new blade neither to wait 10 days for an ebay aftermarket blade for$15. Any ideas????

I would reccomend a pair of vice grips on the bolt. If that doesn't get it out, use a drill. The end of the screw will stay in the old fan clutch so it doesn't matter, that will get your blades loose and once you get the screw head off you can put the blades on the new clutch! Good luck!

Anything you can do to get purchase on the bolt. If it is recessed then vice-grips might be tough. A dremel tool would cut a few grooves so you could get a screwdriver in there. Drill it and use an easy out. Use lots of wd-40 and let it sit... You might also try a soldering iron on the bolt and run it through a few heating/cooling cycles. (Try to unscrew when cool -- duh) Be patient, walk away if feeling frustrated...

Just grind the screw head off and leave it in the old clutch. You need the fan, not the defective clutch. Then get a new screw at Ace HArdware.
