89 300e, replaced alt. & now car hardly runs

My alt went out a few days ago and now that I've put a new rebuilt alt in the car, it won't hardly run at all. My ABS won't go off on the dash, an internal fuse in the stereo was blown, and even now that I've replaced it and have power to the stereo, I still have no sound.
I recently replaced one of the fuel pumps, and the car kinda acts like it did when the pump was bad. It won't go over about 60 mph.
Is it possible that the timming was knocked off, when my alt went bad.
Anyone have any advice for me? I'm totally stumped

OVP or OVP fuse is bad, replace.

Verify that you did not short anything or connect the battery up backwards (hard to do on that car) as this will often fry things.

Also make sure the positive battery cable is connected properly, as a bad connection can cause the alternator to "run away" and produce excessive voltage. This will fry things, and cause the OVP to drop off, making the car run badly. Usually saves the engine and fuel computers, though.....

I agree, probably the OVP or hopefully just the fuse in the OVP. This is a small electrical component near the battery, the one with the small flip-open lid on top with a fuse or two under the lid. Check the fuse or fuses under the lid, they are the red plastic 10 amp variety, commonly available. May be hidden behind the black plastic panel near the battery.

That was it, thank you very much, I was racking my brain trying to figure out what the problem was.
I think the stereo might be history though, I've got power but no sound. I had to replace the internal fuse to get the power, but no stereo is better than not running.
Thanks again
