My 1997 C280 AC doing the same thing, one day it worked, more days it didn't. Many avarage mechanics gave up on my car. They advised me to see experts in electrical problems; some advised to replace control unit that cost more than $1000. Please help.

My 1997 C280's AC ran intermittently. It only worked when starting engine. After the engine warmed up, AC blew hot air, AC clutch disengaged. R134 was full, no leaking. Some of average mechanics gave up on my car. I listened to some good friends in this shopforum website to replace the evaporator temperature sensor, located underneat of dashboard, driver side. It costs me $79 part at dealer and $50 labor. It seems working to me, everything cool. But I have to keep running the AC for another week to make sure permanent fix. I live in Dallas TX, temparature constantly 90s to 100s. For $129 to fix the AC, it will be a cool summer for me.
