Speedometer help?

Hi, i just bought a 95 C280 as my first MB, and i love it! But my problem is the speedo works intermittently and the tach too any help as to what it might be? I would like to do the work myself, but know nothing about MB's.

If smacking it a bit gets it working there is a goo that accumulates on the zero pin that will stick the needle, on "C" car early clusters. Just a good cleaning of the pin fixes the problem.
