Actually they're called Strut Bump Stops and my 97 S-500 is in need of two of them. Part number in question is 140-320-0944. You can view them by inputting the number into the FASTLANE website. My car has the self-leveling suspension w/out ADS. After looking at the ALLDATADIY website for instructions on removing the entire shock it occurred to me that it might be possible to just replace the bump stops with out removing the shock(strut) itself. The procedure would be to remove the top nut, lift the car off the ground and disconnect the arm on the self-leveling valve body and place it in the "drain" position thereby lowering the suspension enough to unscrew the bump stop. If not I have to drain the hydraulic system and dismantle the rear suspension.
If your wondering why I need to replace my bump stops, I have a slight bumping noise over small ripples in the road that occur in the 20-50 mph range. Just the kind of noise you'd expect if a hard, compressed bushing allowed some free play in the shock/body mount area. Accumulators are new and shocks are dry as a bone. Replaced front shocks and the front end is now SILENT! Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated
