New Filter...No Power

What type of air filters do you guys use?

The filter on my car was opaque and filled with dead bugs so I bought a new one (STP). I thought this car dogged when it had the old filter, I can barely make it uphill with this new crap.

perhaps theres another problem with the car other than a clogged (or non-OEM air filter). This is your 240D right? How much power should that diesel have anayway?

Eh... I changed the filter yesterday and noticed a significant decrease power. I noted this because it dogged up a few hills that I can normally climb with only a marginal decrease in speed. That and when I'm accelerating from a stand-still it really wants to take its time. Mind you I'm not expecting the thing to run 9's but when you don't have much to start with you really notice when you lose some.

EDIT: The filter is the only thing I can think of that would be doing it. Then again, we all know I'm retarded, for all I know there could be a slow/fast switch under the hood that I tripped without noticing.

Maybe I'll try putting the dirty old filter back in and see whether or not I'm imagining things.

You didn't put the filter in backwards by any chance, did you?
I've owned a few of these 240D's and blowing your nose can ake them slow down, I think!

Anyway, just a thought!

Best,

Frank

Easy enough to check. Remove the filter and see if that makes a difference. If yes, then a problem with the filter. If no, then the problem is somewhere else.
