94 e320 w124 EGR tube removal cleaning HELP! PLEASE

I'm trying to take off the EGR tube and clean it as I'm getting CEL Code #5. I've removed all of the retaining bolts that hold the tube on but am unable to remove it. I haven't taken off the intake manifold yet as I was hoping to get this tube out without doing that. If the intake manifold needs removing what is the general procedure for doing that?
