300E Hesitation and cuts off at about 82C from idle

here is the problem 1986 300e 155,000mi starts and runs ok till temp reaches about 83C and then from idle hesitates and then cuts off, then hard starting for a few mins and when temperture is either higher or lower runs ok again till that aprox 83c comes and problem returns
I have done, changed dist cap and rotor, spark plugs and wires, ignition coil, idle control valve, fuel pressure regulator, checked and changed most visable vacuum lines, checked throttle microswitch and is ok
thinking about changing Fuel Pump, fuel accumulator, injectors, eha valve, gas tank screen
please i am at my wits end ANY THOUGHTS, thanks, Peter

Hi Peter:

I had the exact same problem with my 260E. It ended up to be the Reference Sensor. When the engine got up to a certain temp. it would shut off and when the engine cooled off, it would run again.

Hope this helps.

Aloha,
Eric

relay

had same problem with the fuel pump relay in a 190e. It was cracked and when it heated up the crack would part, no restart untill cool.

You can bridge the terminals somehow to eliminate this
