I could have sworn I have seen this in a thread here, but after some more searching, I cannot find it.

Are the 1990-1995 w124 wide exterior door mouldings a drop-in replacement for the earlier models or are some modifications necessary? I had picked up a set of panels on eBay that turned out to be fiberglass and the guy who painted my car said that they would not fit because my door lacked the channel for the upper lip. Just as well, as I was concerned about the weight of the fiberglass.

I want to make sure that there are no modifications necessary before I jump for an OEM set; otherwise, I will just replace the stock mouldings.
