Best way to repair stripped exhaust stud?
I had an engine noise that sounded like a lifter but only under throttle and it was too loud to be a lifter. I found a loose exhaust bolt but it wouldn’t take the torque. The stud is spinning in the bore at about 35 ft/lbs. It is holding for now but I know it won’t hold very long.
What is the best way to repair this? Does the head or motor have to come out? I imagine removing the manifold and drilling the head to fit an insert. This one is going to be fun. ![]()
