300TE High Rear Suspension

There are many posts on the rear leveling systems, but this seems to be new. I went out to our '89 300TE (231,000 miles) and started driving down the road. It seemed really bouncy. I got out and looked and the back end was lifted way up. I have driven it for a few days now (I only go a few miles to work) and nothing has changed. It is as if the rear end is all spring and no absorber. The previous posts all seem to do with rear end sag. What about rear end lift. Oh, it never drops; even off or over night it stays lifted way up. And, it looks stupid. Any ideas of what is wrong?

Hans
