Worth it to change 124 caliper seals?

While I have the front end apart to install the sportline parts and replace the rotors, the calipers are lying on the floor.

Is it worth the effort to change the caliper seals?

I do not see many posts on rebuilting 124 calipers. I have a set of seals to install and did a search on rebuilding to look for 'gotchas' which is why I noticed there were not a lot of posts on the subject. Do the seals not go bad until the rest of the caliper needs replacing?

Maybe others can chime in, but in my experience the seals seem to last forever, as long as the pads aren't worn too far down that the pistons start protruding farther than they normally should. When they come out too far, often the seals get stressed to the breaking point and/or don't retract properly when the pads are replaced. I have had calipers start leaking on me under these circumstances.

Just my $.02.

I stopped rebuilding calipers as a matter of routine maintenance a long time ago for a variety of reasons. Now if I find any issues with calipers, they get replaced in pairs.

Thanks guys. Guess I will just replace the hoses, along with pads and rotors.

It's been my experience >> if it ain't broke >> don't fix it...

I rebuilt the calipers on my 911 cause one of them was dragging... was not overly difficult > but was not a piece of cake either >> getting the caliper piston out of the housing was... well.... less than elegant...
