190D Climate control vacuum hookup

I'm troubleshooting my climate control--87 190D turbo. I need to check the "splice" in the vacuum line (marked "50" in the schematic), which is someplace past the firewall but before the switchover valve unit.

Where is this connection located? That is, do I remove the kick panels? the pushbutton unit? glove compartment? or what?

Thanks,
