M119 water-pump questions

I have choice of either Laso or Graf water-pumps for my 1993 500E.

Any of them better than others ?

Also, has anyone replaced their own water-pump ?

Any caveats/gotchas ?

Do I have to remove the crankshaft pulley ?

:-) neil

I've heard that the Laso pump is the best of the aftermarket brands. I put a Laso in my 300E when I did the water pump last year, but I've only put 15k miles on it since, so I don't have much actual experience with it yet.

I replaced the WP on my car about 2 yrs ago and it's a Laso if I remember correctly.

I did it at my tech's shop so if I got 'stuck' he could bail me out! And he did! Don't remember removing the CP but the harmonic balancer was. . . .

The hardest part is the little 2 - 3" hose; it's a bugger to get back on. The 'trick' is to lube (MB sliding grease) on the tstat side so that it will slide on. Without that, it's a bugger to get on.
