Where can I get new yellow capsules that cover the H1 iode used in my fog lights? I have euro lights in my 123 300 D sedan and my 190 E 2.3-16.

I don't know if PartsShop can get these or not. If not, and you can't get them at a auto recycler, there are 2 ways to go, assuming you are looking for yellow light from your fog lamps.

The first way is that Hella, Osram-Sylvania, and maybe Philips all make a yellow series H1 bulb that has an optical coating. I have the yellow H3 bulbs in my fog lamps, as the yellow reflector went away with my US light assemblies when I switched to Euros. The yellow light is a "softer" yellow than the old ones.

The second way is that a lot of the "rice" specialty shops, and http://store.autotoys.com/cgi-bin/wfp53024.storefront/ carry colored caps to fit over various bulbs.

robby,

i would recommend going for the PIAA Ion Crystal H3 bulb. Although a bit expensive, they emit a brilliant yellow in the main part of the beam, with a bluish-white tinge at the fringes of the beam. As such, it is a dual-purpose lamp for my 190e: the yellow part that hits the road is good for nighttime and foul-weather visibility; the blue-white part of the beam at the fringes makes the foglamp perform like a daytime running lamp, from the point of view of other drivers. I am very satisfied with the purchase. Hard to source, though.
