Any idea what this plug is?

I recently replaced the entire stock stereo in my '93 300E and came across this mystery plug. There's a plastic panel underneath the dash on the passenger side (underneath the airbag); when I removed it this dropped down. Because there's so much stuff under the dash and because my hand's too big I couldn't figure out where the other end went.

Any idea where this is supposed to go? And is it being unplugged a bad thing?

Thanks,
Mike

I don't know what or where that plug is supposed to go, but, if everything is operational as far as you know, consider this: Often when car's come with different option packages, rather than making up new wiring harnesses for each car with different option packages, they just make up the one harness and let the unused plugs hang loose.

Your picture is so blurry, I can't tell the color of the wires, but it could be a plug for the cellular telephone.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. I didn't realize how blurry the picture was until I got a look at it on my computer -- getting the digital camera to focus on something that small is obviously a challenge.

I think I won't worry about it, since everything in the car works (as far as I know, anyway).

Thanks again.

-Mike
