1988 300TE wagon, no speedo, slips in high gear

Hi,

I know it has been covered before, but can someone get more specific please?

A few years ago M.B. Doc posted that if your speedo (mechanical) doesn't work that the drive pin in the rear pump shears. He quoted 2-3 hours labor and $10 -20 in parts.

Anything else I should know before I go in?

thanks

kinda wierd. could be the rear nut that is not tight cuz if the thing was sheared you wouldn't be moving at all.
speedo just might be the speedo itself. no needle action?
maybe cable?

george
