Need to replace and adjust engine mounts on my 93 300D 2.5 Turbo. The manual calls for a special tool gauge to adjust the clearance at the rear stop. Does anyone know the clearance the gauge provides since this looks like a simple measurement to attain without finding or buying the tool? How fussy is this adjustment? Thanks, Bart

These mounts are all hydraulic and there are no such tools that I am aware of. The tool is to measure when the mounts are faulty. 13mm is the min. tolerance.

My service CD calls for adjusting the engine stop at what appears to be the rear cross member using a gauge #201 589 04 23 00 (02). I haven't actually been under there for this but know I have one faulty hydraulic mount and figured I'd go though the whole procedure. Thanks for your reply. I'm sure this will all reveal itself when I get to it.
