Belt tensioner defeat on 190E

Hi Gang,

I have a 92 190E and I need to remove the waterpump. How do I defeat the serpentine best tensioner?

Thanks in advance,

loosen the nut on the front of the tensioner, and thewn turn the adjusting bolt to the left, dont go too far as it may unscrew, it has a reverse thread.

Online MB doc available at the site below. Some here complain about it's speed or I should say, the lack of it. For free I don't complain much.

Read up on the tensioner and it won't "defeat" you.

Tightening Nut

Any idea where to get the tightening nut for the tensioner? Mine BROKE OFF, or rather, the anchoring point at the end of the screw shaft (this sounds bad, but...) chipped, and now I have a loose assemble that does not allow for full tension on the belt. Squeaks ahoy.
