Question Where is the wiring harness for 560SEC 1989?

I wanted to know where the wiring harness for 560SEC 1989 location is.
I guess this is what causing the ASR light problem after I made a little accedent from the front. Thank you : ))..

The wiring harness spreads out all over the engine, But I doubt it is the cause of your SRS light. When you had that little accident, the computer probably fired the squibs for the seat belt retraction system. They will need to be replaced. You said ASR, but I think you meant SRS. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Red face

Thank you autozen for caring. Well, I ment ASR not SRS. But in addition before and after the accident I have the SRS lights time to time. I don't know why. I changed the air-bag it worked fine for about a week but still from time to time I see the SRS lights. The accident wasn't that strong to blow the air-bag (thanks god) or maybe the car has a faulty air-bag system. Any possibility to fix the SRS light? : ))..

I really want to solve that ASR problem but I don't know how. Does the Ignition Control Unit (that is located on the lower-right side on the mudguard) has to do anything with the ASR?

I'm so greedy for collecting information about Benz cars : ))..

The SRS system in Mercedes is designed to deploy in two stages. If the crash is light only the seat belt squibs fire. If the crash is heavier, the air bags deploy. Also only the driver's bag will deploy in a mild crash, if the passenger belt is fastened. If the passenger belt is not fastened with a two bag system. the passenger bag will also deploy. I'll check on the ASR circuit today.

AHA now I got what is the wiring harness, here they name it something else.

Regarding the SRS; the red SRS lights while driving and then turns off. So each drive I expect it to light 3~5 times. I don't have a double air-bag.

Does squibs mean air-bag?

I really do appreciate your help : ))..

Squibs may have a couple of names. I use this term, because I am familiar wih it from working with missile systems years ago. It is a little gas charged cylinder that is fired electrically to tighten the seat belts immediately during a crash. There is one in each door post at the end of the seat belt retractor.

By the way where in the world are you? You can't be in the U.S., because I checked the manuals, and ASR was not available in this country until 1991.

Talking

I live in Kuwait. I love 560 cars. Actually I got really so bored of fixing my 560SEC. When I bought it it was in a bad shape, I changed about 8 transmissions on it within 3 years. Now the engine needs to be replaced and add the ASR/SRS problems. Also the Ignition Control Unit in not the original one; it's for 500SEL one.

Finally I found a great 560SEL 1989. Only 150000KM dirven and full options.
