monoblade piston cover flew off! What to do?
 

The monoblade on my wifes 98 C230 was pausing recently in mid sweep. I found on here that some lubrication on the piston that goes in and out should help. SUre enough it did. I had to remove the metal cover that shields the piston from the elements in order to apply the grease. The cover snapped back into place. Apparently the cover flew off while my wife was driving on the highway. I am assuming I can't find this any where unless I can find a car in the junk yard. Any ideas?

Check dealer--probably a replaceable part.

In the future - turn the key off when the wiper is in middle windshield position. You can access the piston from underneath without removing the cover. Use your little finger or Q-tip with oil.

EPC has it as a Cap, wiper gearing head, p/n 202 824 02 49

I'm sure you can buy this new from a dealer or another source, but what's wrong with used part? I kept an older Volvo running by replacing 'non-critical' parts when they failed with parts from a salavge yard in MD. I enjoyed the relationship I developed with the yard's owner, a very honest guy who would UPS my part and include an invoice, trusting I would pay. However, I realize this 'used part from a salvage yard' method is not for everyone, or for every part.
