Question How many AMPs the battery should be for 560SEL 1989?

I wounder what is the best AMPs for the battery that I should install on my 560SEL 1989.

I don't know about the dynamo (alternator) but I guess it's 80 Ampere.

The original Mercedes battery is arround 100$ and it's 100 Ampere. Shall I buy it or buy the 75 Ampere one?

My last question, what is the best battery brand?

All W126's use the same battery. Interstates number is MTP-93.

Autozone's lists for $65
Interstates 84 month battery lists for $110
MB's is $110 also.

Take your pick all these work fine. Don't forget Sears Diehards as well.

I have bought replacement batteries for my '91 420SEL at both the local M-B dealer, and also Autolite/Exide brand at Kragens. I have been happier with the one from Kragen, and it is a lot cheaper as well ($69 versus $110 or $120). This is for a 84-month battery - I forget the cold-cranking amp rating. BTW the group number is 49 (for the correct size and terminal placement).

Where are you located? I'm guessing it's not the USA, because we use a different battery rating system. For example, the Interstate MTP-93 is rated at 850 CCA (cold cranking amps).

Buy the 100 ampere battery. It will last longer and give you stronger cold starts.

Consult with Mercedes agent, perhaps even obtain owner's manual.
