Shift lock stuck! Help!

Here's the scenario:

Car is a 2000 E320 wagon.

Recently, the computer has thrown some BAS/ABS codes. They come and go.

Yesterday, the shifter got stuck in park and we had to use the manual release to get it going. When we shift back to park, it gets stuck again. There were no liquids spilled at all and the car has not gone into "limp home" mode. The brakelights work fine.

Could this problem be the stop lamp switch? From what I understand, it controls both the stop lamps and the shift lock independantly. Thanks!

Heeey look

Did you ever find the problem?? I have the exact same problem with my S500! Except it throws BAS and ESP codes all the time when I start the car.
I can't get it out of park. And I don't think there's an override switch!
