Wanted: Referral for Mercedes Tech in NJ (Bergen County)

Hello all:
I just moved from Seattle to NJ (Bergen County) and I am looking for my new bestfriend.....actually, a reputable Mercedes Tech. Here is the deal

As soon as my car (2001 CLK55 with under 40K miles) got off the truck, my check engine and BAS/ESP lights came on. I took it to the dealership and they are estimating upwards of $5,000 for the following:

1.) BAS/ESP issue: Determined that brake booster is bad $950

2.) Check Engine light: The trouble codes for check engine was P2053 & P2050 (misfire codes for the #4 cylinder). They are unsure as of yet as to what the issue is (changed plugs, checked injectors, etc) but have a feeling that it is the "ME" They want to do the following:

Diagnostic: Continue down diagnostic discovery path at a total of about $1000-$1,200 (estimated 8-12 hours)

ME Replacement: If it is the ME, about $2,600

Unfortunately, they will not honor my warranty with an aftermarket provider (bought the car used with this warranty) and before I get into replacing parts, might consider bringing the car to a non-dealership outlet who will work with my warranty provider. I live near Paramus so any suggestions would be very welcome!

There's a forum at this site that discusses good shops. Try this:
