Location of PSE on CLK430?

I've been having some major alarm\trunk issues. the alarm won't arm, and the trunk open light stays lit on the console. The trunk won't open with the remote. Of course, the mechanical trunk lock was frozen, but i DID manage to get the rear seats to release and fold down.

I found blown 5amp fuse in the rear fuse box. The fuse is labeled ALARM\Rear courtesy light\Trunk light. (neither light works). It blows as soon as I replace it.

I've been doing some reading on the forum and saw a lot of references to PSEs which can get wet, which corrodes the connections. Maybe that's the key. Now I just need to find it. It thought it may be in the tray just behind the rear seats in the trunk. All i found there was some of the motorola components for the remote assistance system, startrack or something, right? I also found my "transverse acceleration sensor". But no PSE.

Is it under the rear seat? if so, which one, and how do i get to it. I was trying to remove the rear seat bottoms when i was battling for trunk entry, but I couldnt figure out how to do it.

Thanks.

BTW, if anyone is interested how I got the rear seats to unlatch from the inside the cabin, let me know, and i can take some pics and post a thread.

Thanks Doc. I thought it may be there, judging by the noise when I lock\unlock. Is there an easy way to get in there without having trunk access? Cuz my trunk is still not opening. Actually, if there is a way for the trunk to be opened from the inside? figure maybe there is as a safety thing, in case anyone gets locked in there. I looked, but couldn't find anything. I can probably get off most of the felt trunk trim from the inside. It's nice I'm not doing it for nothing, as now I know the PSE is really there.

OK, found it. Can you get to it without opening the trunk. Yes. Is it fun. NO. I reseated all 4 electrical connections on the PSE, and hit the remote, while still in the trunk, and it opened. Yeah, the neighbor looked at me funny when I climbed out.

For anyone looking, it is located behind the felt trim above and to the outside of the CD player. You'll see it encased in a block of foam. The foam is wedged into the fender. That's the mounting system.

The trunk open indicator is still glowing, and the alarm won't arm, but at least I can get into the trunk. the #5 (alarm\rear interior light\trunk light) still blows as soon as I put a fuse in it. That's enough for today. Enough for me at least. Thanks again Doc for the help.
