300e diesel swap
Just drug home a '90 300d with 150k from the insurance sale. I have the entire car and seems to run well enough despite a LONG sit.
I'd like to swap this powertrain into my '88 300te. Does anyone have experience with this? Any huge differences in these 124s as far as difs, engine mount locations, etc? Could this be plug and play? Are there issues with these diesels or do they run like the old ones? Thanks for you input! abh3 |

Make sure you swap over all the electronics and also remember the front suspension is different. The diesels used different spring rates, but you have those in your donor car.
You will probably have to convert your SLS over to regular shocks because that diesel engine never ran an SLS pump in this country. Unless you can fab something up to make it work, or get parts from Europe. Since you have two complete cars if you take your time and do your homework this won't be a backyard hack job. Good luck it should be fun!

you are in the ideal position
to do a conversion. you have two complete cars. i dont see why you cant swap over everything. i might do a careful evaluation of the diesel engine before taking it out. as now would be the time to do any work it might require.
