Lightbulb 450slc lower ball joints

1980 450slc - I need to replace my lower ball joints on the bottom control arm. Can anyone suggest what kind of puller/press would work? The MB special tool cost $700 bucks, way to much $$. Can I get by using another version? Anybody who has done this job I would appreciate suggestions. Thanks

A good universal ball-joint press WILL WORK.

Or you could remove the complete lower arm & take it to a good machine shop & they could press it out. THAT would require a spring compressor.

ball joints on my 450sl 1977

On my model replacement ball joiints are bolted on. Need to grind out rivets holding od ones, no press fit required. Adsit Co. has replacements that replace old ones. Good luck. Abe G

The R/C107 chassis does have replacable lower ball-joints thru 1985!

MB part number 115-333-11-27 with a MB list of $72.

I would think that $40 would be a good price for OE quality!

ball joint replacement

As MB Doc right as usual! Check adsit Co. bolt on as stated earlier. Grind out old rivets, 3 bolts supplied with joints. Good luck, Abe G

ALL of the 1968-76 W114/115 & all R107 chassis thru 1985 use the same lower ball joint... & I've replaced hunderds of them!

Now the upper joint is not factory replacable.
