transforming loved 1,8 190e into 2,5-16v

Greetings.
I am a new member and really find this forum very helpful. Great job.

I've owned a 1,8 4-speed manual 190e for the past 11 years. It has no extras whatsoever-it is the most basic edition. Needless to say, I love this car. Will never get rid of it. No rust whatsoever, interior literally like new. Has 205000km on the clock! Best item I,ve ever owned!!

Thinking of undertaking a total make-over to liven up the performance and aesthetics using 16v parts. How do-able is this? Would there be areas where a swap would be impossible, eg. gearbox, engine, differential, brakes etc, given I can get hold of the parts?

Thank you

the best method

would be to obtain a wrecked donor car and switch over everything. i wouldnt be surprised if there are some areas of reinforcment to the body structure to strengthen areas of additional stress, but i don't know.

good luck.

The 2.5-16 is more than just a motor and gearbox. It's a complete package, so my advice would be to find a good 16 valve and then have two W201s!

Thinking it through, such a project does not seem worth it. Having two, or several, 190e's would be a dream come true.

I would love to drive a 190e for the rest of my life. Thats how sure I am that new cars don't even come close. I hope I can accomplish this. What can I say, I'm a fan!
