Hard Start
Good Afternoon
I was hoping for some direction on a problem I am having. I have an 01 E430 with 59K miles. The car starts right up in the morning with no problems. The problem is after the car sits for 2-4 hours it takes a while to start. This happens only after it has sat for 2-4 hours, not 1 hour, not 8 hours. It's very strange. I took the car to the dealer and of course it didnt happen to them. They performed a scan and found nothing. Any advice on what I should do? |

I would look at fuel quality or delivery. Sounds like fuel system may be vapor locking and or bleeding off. The fuel filter on your car is due for replacement at 5yr or 60K mi. It contains the fuel pressure regulator on it. I would start
there by replaing the fuel filter and trying different fuel. Verfiy pressure at the fuel rail. 3.8-4.1 bar is spec. Regards, Dr.D

Thanks! The car is going in for the 60K service and that includes the fuel filter change. We'll see if it works. I will post the result
