Just to give this another view I'll bump it to the top with a most pertinent question.

What year model are you talking? with US models one can sort of sort out an era with simple sales designation: like a C220 was only built to 97 and a C230 would be after 98, but most of us don't know such info about euro cars and besides that they seem to make so many who could possible tell. I can't even be sure whether you have a 202 or 203 car. The systems involved changed a lot over those models.
