W126 lagging

It takes about 15 seconds of flooring it (WOT) to reach sppens in the 50's (the highest I've gotten it since I've owned it)

transmission shifts are also rough.

Brake lights on also (hasnt been driven since I've noticed)

Vacuum lines maybe?

i would check

the brakes to see if they are dragging. i am not sure if that car has a brake pressure activated brake light switch or not. some cars do.

just a vac leak wouldnt cause such drastic power loss i dont think unless it were more than a simple line loose, much more.

of course it could be plugged fuel or air filter. or a blockage in the fuel tank or in gas lines, so i would check for that.

and then i would check for ignition and cam timing. greatly retarded timing can cause vac problems too. and loss of power. if the iginition is retarded the car will run hot too.

New airfilter was just installed. The other filter element that looks as if it's supposed to have a line hooked up to it dosnt. Previous filters looked to have synge (?) marks.

I can hear a humming sound (when car is on) from the right rear tire area, sounds like a pump is struggling, and there's another hose just hanging there.

Just ordered the Service manual cd's, I hope the outline repairs like these well (this isnt just me first mercedes, its also my first car.)
