CLimate control panel "light".
On my yr 2000 E320 climate control display, the illumination is acting up. It seems to be "something" loose, because if I rap on it in just the right place it will
light up, but the next time II'm in the car it is malfunctioning again. Has anyone had experience with the same, and was able to get at this and fix it? (I'll bet it would be a very pricey thing at a dealer's service shop.) |

If your climate control is similar to the one pictured, using MB removal tools, pull it out and look on the bottom. Remove the small white plastic piece, it comes out with a quarter turn. That's the light.
Good Luck, Dan

To "Forp" re: climate control
Thanks for the reply, and your picture is just like mine. However, MB removal tools? What are they? Expensive? Does the unit come out easy to the front, or does that whole console have to be taken apart? A little more on this would help, and thanks.

See the two slots at the bottom edge of the A/C unit? That is where you slide in the stereo--A/C removal tools and the unit will pop out.
Your local MB dealer sells them for about $6. Good Luck

Lamp in Climate control panel
Thanks for the tool tip; it's on order. I'm assuming that the panel is interconnected and remvoes without undoing wiring - right?

There is enough wire to pull the climate control module out and remove the bulb without having to disconnect anything.

Bulb Replaced
Thanks to all! Advice was perfect, fix easy. On the other hand bukb was around $4.00 from MB, though it looked like a smaller version of a Christmas tree bulb, the really cheap ones!
