2000 S500 Ball Joints? Steering wheel a bit loose..

I was told that my ball joints need to be replaced.. Does anybody know how much that would cost for the parts? How many hours of labor?

When I turn my steering wheel all the way to the left I here a poping noise.. AND when I'm driving I hear some noises that I think are coming from the end of the steering wheel.. Perhaps where the steering wheel ends close to the axel..
