96 W210 E320 Steering Wheel Adjustment?

The steering wheel will adjust using the saved settings on the switch but it will not work using the adjustment button on the switch. I picked up another switch as I thought that it was the switch, but that one did the same thing.

Any ideas out there before I start tearing things apart that I don't need to?

Door opened/door closed/key on/key off may affect it. Owner's manual will clear that up.

96 W210 E320 Steering wheel Adjustment

I have reviewed the manual and have attempted to adjust the steering wheel with the door opened, closed, proper key position and nothing. I was able to operate it once as I was driving but nothing after. I am stumped.

Maybe you need to resynchronize the headrest. Has to be done anytime power to it has been interrrupted.

96 W210 E320 Steering Wheel Adjustment

According to the book, the syncro is for the headrests, but I have tried that as well and nothing. I am really stumped on this one? Perhaps the connection at the motor? It is probably a pin type connection so I am a little apprehensive about tearing into it.

Anyone run into this before? Any other thoughts?

Thumbs up 96 W210 Steering Wheel Adj Problem fix!

I had thought the Driver's side switch for the seat/steering was bad and replaced it through Patomic German Auto. BTW, these guys are good and priced right, total for a used switch with shipping was $61.99. Anyhow when I spoke to pat who takes care of the ebay sales, he told me to check the flat box under the seat. Sure enough I pulled the plug out and one of the wires was not properly seated into the pin, fiddled with it and plugged it back in. All is well. for those who need parts and advice, I am leaving their info.
