power window switch removal '90 300e

ive been doing searches and then running outside and trying to remove the window switch but its not working out very well. is there a trick to getting the switch to come out? does anyone know of any pictures? i found some pics but they were for an older model and it didnt help me any. thanks in advance.

Are you referring to the switch(es) on the center console or the rear door panels? Provide us with this info first, and let's see if we can get you further towards solving your problem.

By the way, switches on the console require console removal to gain access. Door panel switches only require removing the bezels surrounding them.

its the switches in the console. i have already removed what i need from the console its just the switches themselves that i cant get out.

They may be a bit stubborn to remove as age probably hardens the plastic so that gentle force doesn't cut it.

The switch(es) are also held in place by a large plastic bezel underneath the console (the one stapled to the wood). Tabs in the bezel allow removal of the switches. To remove, pull the tabs (located above and below the switch) outward and push the switch out away from the console, not towards...in other words, if the console were in place, you would PUSH the switch DOWN to remove.

This is easier to do if the harness is disconnected first. And as a precaution, disconnect the battery so that you don't accidentally short anything out. Do make sure you have the security codes for the radio if you do so...
