New 9004 ST lamp, still no worky!!

I was recently the victim of the most minor of fender-benders, and my driver's side headlight rim was trashed. I had the rim, turn signal and mounting clips replaced, and I was back in business, or so I thought. . .

Anyway, the driver's side lamp went out, 48 hours after the repair. I had driven it for at least a few hours after getting it back and it worked. Anyway, I decided to replace both lamps with Sylvania Silverstar 9004 ST's and, unfortunately, the driver's side is still kaput. I checked the fuse, no issue there. . . .

Anything else I should look at before breaking out the voltmeter?

it is possible that the bulb check control relay may be bad? what year and model, i may have one you could use as a tester.

It's a 1991 300D 2.5 Turbodiesel W124. Where is this relay? I never expected to like this car so much!
