Been years since I worked on one of those. Don't the injectors go into the head?

The on the M110, injectors do go into the head; if the head is original, it likely won't have the holes for the injectors. All replacement heads have the holes for the injectors; if the head is used on a carb engine, there are freeze plugs specified to close off the injector holes.
